Disney and The Pokémon Company have announced a new animated series called Pokémon Tales: The Misadventures of Sirfetch'd & Pichu. The announcement was made on a Friday, according to Polygon.

The show uses stop-motion animation, a style where characters are moved a little at a time and photographed to create movement. It is produced by Aardman Animations, the studio behind Wallace & Gromit, Chicken Run, and Shaun the Sheep.

The series follows Sirfetch'd and Pichu as they travel through the Galar region, the setting of Pokémon Sword and Shield. Viewers will see the two Pokémon on their adventures in this part of the Pokémon world.

The show is slated to debut on Disney XD and stream exclusively on Disney Plus in 2027. Aardman's partnership with Pokémon was first announced in 2024.

Sean Clarke is the managing director of Aardman. Ayo Davis is president of Disney Kids & Family, and Phil Rynda is Pokémon's director of original animation.

Fans who want to watch earlier Pokémon shows have some options. Pokémon the Series: The Beginning is now available on Disney Plus in the U.S. and select international markets, and Season 1 of the Pokémon anime is also streaming there. Later seasons are available via Hulu, including Pokémon the Series: Sun & Moon (season 20), Sun & Moon Ultra Adventures (season 21), and Sun & Moon Ultra Legends (season 22).
