Samsung Galaxy Watches can show small dots and icons on the watch face. According to Engadget, these symbols each tell you something about your watch.

An orange dot is a notification indicator. It means you have unread notifications. The orange dot stays on the watch face until you have read all of them. According to Engadget, the orange dot is present on the Galaxy Watch 8, Galaxy Watch 9, and Galaxy Watch Ultra 2.

A red dot works differently. Instead of an orange dot, a red dot means there is an urgent message to check as soon as possible.

If you do not want the orange dot to show, you can turn it off. Go to Settings, then Notifications, then Advanced Settings, and switch off 'New notification indicator on watch face'. You can also turn it off through the Wearable app on a linked Samsung phone. Open Watch Settings, then Notifications, then Advanced notification settings.

The top of the watch face can also show a few icons about the connection and lock. A phone icon with a slash through it means the watch has lost its Bluetooth connection with the phone. A rectangle with a cloud in the middle means the watch is connected to the phone through mobile data or Wi-Fi instead of Bluetooth. A padlock means the watch is locked and needs a password or PIN to open.

The bottom of the watch face has icons too. A blue music note shows that an app is playing music. Tapping it lets you control the audio. A green phone icon appears when the watch or a connected phone is being used for a call.
