Good Housekeeping Shares Homemade Costume Ideas Made From Everyday Items
A set of DIY costume ideas shows how to build creative outfits with cardboard, felt, and craft paint.

Good Housekeeping has shared a collection of homemade costume ideas. The costumes are made from simple materials and crafts.
One idea is a Crocs costume. To make it, a builder traces and cuts a Croc shape from a sheet of cardboard. The costume has one large face hole and seven smaller holes, and the shoe and strap are painted with craft paint in several coats.
Another idea is a Beanie Babies costume. It uses a hoodie with felt ears attached by hot glue. A red cardstock heart-shaped tag is tied on with red ribbon to finish the look.
A Jewelry Box Ballerina costume uses an oversized cardboard box. The box is painted light pink.
For a Sriracha costume, a red t-shirt is decorated with iron-on transfer paper printed with a label template. A bottle cap hat is also included, made from styrofoam forms covered in green felt.
The Martini Trio costume includes an olive cocktail made from balloons and a lime made from a paper fan. A Tinned Fish costume uses two cardboard rectangles painted with craft paint to form a tin box. A Sardine costume uses a gray zip-up hoodie layered with foil cupcake liners.
A Lip Smackers costume uses a cotton t-shirt dress and iron-on transfer paper. A Charcuterie Board costume involves making grape, salami, and cheese headpieces.
Costumes are by Lis Engelhart and Alex Mata. Makeup is by Emma Elizabeth at Honey Artists using MOB Beauty, and hair is by Linsey Marmorato at Honey Artists using Kristin Ess.
