Kimi Antonelli won the United States Grand Prix in Austin. It was his ninth win of the season. He is 20 years old.

Antonelli started the race from pole position, which means he was the fastest qualifier and started first on the grid. Charles Leclerc finished second for Ferrari, and Max Verstappen finished third for Red Bull.

Leclerc had been the fastest driver in both Friday practice sessions and qualified fourth. Verstappen started from the front row but had a poor start. Even so, he earned his sixth podium in a row.

Lewis Hamilton was the fastest in the final practice session. Lando Norris had a quickest Q3 lap deleted for track limits, which means the lap was removed because he went outside the white lines marking the track. Isack Hadjar qualified third and went on to finish sixth.

Oscar Piastri finished seventh. George Russell received a five-second time penalty but still finished eighth. Liam Lawson finished ninth, and Pierre Gasly scored points after missing Q3, the final qualifying session. Nico Hulkenberg finished 11th.

Arvid Lindblad started 14th after a power-unit penalty and finished 12th. Esteban Ocon finished 14th. Lance Stroll started from the pit lane and finished 15th, while Fernando Alonso finished behind him after a slow pit stop. Alex Albon led Williams home.

Some drivers did not finish the race. Valtteri Bottas retired late, and Franco Colapinto and Oliver Bearman also retired. Carlos Sainz exited in Q1, and Sergio Perez finished 19th.

According to BBC Sport, Antonelli can become the youngest Formula 1 world champion if he finishes ninth or higher at the Mexico City Grand Prix next weekend.
