A family spent six days in Puglia, a region in southern Italy, in September. According to Condé Nast Traveler, their three must-haves were staying in a trullo (a round stone house with a cone-shaped roof), having laundry, and having a pool.

The family stayed at Trullo Giulio, about 15 minutes outside of Martina Franca. The drive from Bari to the property took 90 minutes. When they arrived, Anna, a neighbor of the host, met them at the property.

The main trullo has two beds and one bath. Two outbuildings hold two more bedrooms, a bathroom, and the kitchen. The bedrooms in the main trullo are curtained off from the living room. The air conditioning units that were advertised are only in the outbuildings.

Wi-Fi and cell service at the property were nearly nonexistent. The property does have a saltwater pool with a whirlpool and an infinity edge, as well as an outdoor shower.

Alberobello, Ostuni, and Polignano a Mare are each within an hour's drive of the trullo. Grottaglie is the ceramic destination of the region.

For food, the family ate at Sale e Pepe, a local restaurant within a five-minute drive of the house. Ricciolandia is a restaurant recommended for sea urchin.

During their stay, the family took a pasta-making class with Cristiana and her mother at their beachside trullo in Cozze. During the class, the family learned to make orecchiette (a small, ear-shaped pasta) by hand.
