Ford is rolling out the 2027 Mustang Mach-E Trail, a version of its electric SUV made for rougher ground. According to Autoweek, the Trail is designed for gravel roads, dirt tracks, and other trails.

The Trail is based on the Mach-E Select eAWD. It also adds hardware borrowed from the Mustang Mach-E Rally. The Trail sits 10 millimeters higher at the front and 15 millimeters higher at the rear than the Select and Premium models.

The Trail uses the Rally's steering rack. It rolls on 19-inch dark gray wheels and wears Michelin CrossClimate 2 tires.

The Trail includes a 400-watt Pro Power Onboard system. It has outlets in the cargo area and behind the center console, so drivers can power devices on the go.

For people who want more gear, a Thule clamp-on crossbar kit is available for the Mach-E. An interior protection package is also available. It includes all-weather floor mats and a cargo-area protector.

For 2027, an extended-range battery is standard across the Mach-E range. Select and Premium models have 88 kWh of usable battery capacity. GT and Rally models have 91 kWh of usable battery capacity.

The entry-level Mach-E Select RWD starts at $42,040. The Mach-E Trail is a $2,295 package. Ford also introduced a less expensive secondary drive unit for all-wheel-drive models.

The Mach-E Trail is available to order now. Vehicles are expected at dealerships in the first quarter of 2027.
